Hiya friends! Presenting to you a wrap-up for the books I read in November 2020. I read 8 books this month, a combination of thrillers, young adult, and middle-grade books. Without further ado, let’s dive into the recap.

Monthly Wrap-Up: November 2020

Three Hours by Rosamund Lupton

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 5 out of 5.

In rural Somerset in the middle of a blizzard, the unthinkable happens: a school is under siege. Told from the point of view of the people at the heart of it, all experience the most intense three hours of their lives, where evil and terror are met by courage, love and redemption.

This is a brilliant thriller taut with suspense, brimming with action, and peopled with relatable characters.

The City That Barks and Roars by J.T. Bird 

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

What if animals ruled the world?

Frank Penguin and Chico Monkey are detectives in Kingdom Police Force. Frank’s partner, Lucas Panda, has been kidnapped. So have three beaver brothers. Are these disappearances connected?

This was a good mystery. Moreover, it has the potential to be translated into a blockbuster movie.

Books I read in November 2020

The Forgotten Gift by Kathleen McGurl

Rating: 4 out of 5.

What would you do to protect the ones you love?

But the secrets aren’t all hidden in the past, and her research will soon lead her to a revelation much closer to home – and which will turn everything she knows on its head…

This was an engrossing piece of historical fiction.

The Cult of Eden by Bill Halpin

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Will and Shannon, newlywed couple and parents to an infant, have no idea what crude fate awaits them. They have attracted the attention of Victor Degas who belongs to an ancient, sophisticated cult known as the Edens and believes Will to be the key to gaining otherworldly power. And Victor is willing to go to any length to achieve that.

This turned out to be a dark, disturbing, and spine-chilling novel. You need guts to read this book.

Books I read in November 2020

The Lost Village by Daniela Sacerdoti

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Luce’s mother, Angelina, has cut off all ties with her family in Italy and has settled in America. What happened in the past that forced Angelina to take such a step?

This is a gripping, smoothly flowing story where the events are influenced by the WW2. But, this is more a story of family and relationships.

THE COUSINS BY KAREN M. McMANUS

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah Story are cousins, but they barely know each other. Their grandmother, Mildred Story, rich but reclusive, disinherited their parents decades ago and cut off all ties with them. However, they receive a letter asking them to work in their grandmother’s resort over the summer. Not going is not an option. Plus, they are curious. What happened all those years ago that Mildred cut off all ties with her children?

The Cousins by Karen M. McManus is an addictive young-adult mystery.
It is thrilling, fast-paced, and kept me glued till the last page.

The Tigers in the Tower by Julia Golding

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Sahira’s family is traveling to England to deliver two tigers to the menagerie in London. However, they fall prey to sickness leaving Sahira alone in the care of people who want nothing to do with her.

It is an enchanting tale full of action and adventure.

Barnabas Tew and the Case of the Hellenic Abduction by Columbkill Noonan

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Barnabas and his friend, Wilfred, are detectives to gods. This time, they have been called by Zeus to bring back a princess with whom he has fallen in love. However, the tasks of God are rarely easy to accomplish, right?

It is a blend of mythology and mystery with dollops of humor thrown in.
